Julie Gringer a patient of Dr. Mackay has battled cancer and is now healthy enough to compete in the Swim Across America Atlanta Open Water Swim. Dr. Mackay is so impressed with her spirit he wanted to share this emotional story with everyone.
Dr. Mackay attended Vanderbilt University where he received his B.A and went on to receive his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston . After going on to complete his residency training from Emory University in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Mackay was not content to rest on his laurels. Instead he took part in an additional fellowship training program in pediatric and adult craniofacial surgery and aesthetic surgery of the facial skeleton at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Mackay’s dual certification comes from both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. A true professional, Dr. Mackay is experienced in all facets of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Before tackling the challenges of a private practice, Dr. Mackay used his extensive knowledge by teaching others as an assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Mackay shared his training with his students both at the Mayo Clinic as well as Emory University School of Medicine.
