Do you feel that the proportions of your body are distorted by a small buttocks? Are you embarrassed by a flat or saggy buttocks? If so, buttock augmentation and/or lift with the team at Atlanta Plastic & Reconstructive Specialists can help. Buttock augmentation increases the size of the buttocks to balance the body’s contours. Buttock lift gives the butt a perkier and more youthful shape.
Buttock augmentation is a helpful body contouring procedure for individuals that are born with a flat buttocks, or whose buttock flattens and sags with age. Factors such as pregnancy and massive weight loss can also be detrimental to the shape of the buttocks.
Butt lift won’t change the size of a small buttocks, but it will eliminate excess loose, saggy skin and give a flat buttocks better shape.
If you are considering buttock augmentation or lift, it is best to speak with our plastic surgeons during a consultation. The surgeon will perform a physical examination of your buttocks and ask you to describe your ideal buttock shape and size.
Generally, suitable candidates for buttock augmentation are individuals who:
Buttock augmentation can be performed two ways. Our buttock augmentation surgeons will select the appropriate technique for you based on your natural buttock size and shape, the available surplus fat on your body, your skin elasticity and other factors.
The traditional buttock augmentation method involves using a synthetic implant to increase the fullness, roundness and projection of the buttocks. During an outpatient procedure, the surgeon makes an incision either at the top of the upper buttock, toward the bottom of the gluteal creases or between the buttock cheeks. The implant is inserted through the incision and positioned either in the muscle or above the gluteal muscle on each side of the buttock. The incision is closed with sutures.
The modern alternative to buttock implants is a fat grafting procedure known as Brazilian Butt Lift. The surgeon uses liposuction techniques to graft surplus fat from another area of the body (e.g., abdomen, hips, thighs). The fat is purified and prepared for re-injection. The surgeon then injects small amounts of the fat into the buttocks to add healthy shape. The majority of the fat is injected into the upper quadrant of the buttock to give it a perky, “lifted” effect.
Buttock lift is an outpatient procedure performed with anesthesia. It may be performed as part of a lower body lift or even an extended tummy tuck. The buttock lift surgeon makes an incision on the lower waist, and removes excess skin and fat deposits. The remaining skin is tightened and smoothed for a more attractive buttock shape and contour. The incisions are closed with sutures.
Bruising, swelling and soreness are common during recovery from buttock augmentation or lift. Oral medication can be taken as prescribed to soothe any discomfort. The patient can gradually return to work, exercise and other normal activities under the supervision of our surgeons.
