Candidates for Restylane®

You may be a candidate for Restylane® in Atlanta if you have facial wrinkles or lip wrinkles you want to diminish. Restylane® can also be used if you desire to have fuller or more defined lips, if you have deep nasolabial folds (the lines between the nose and the corner of your mouth). Restylane® can smooth out, fill in and decrease wrinkles. It is also intended to plump lips and define the edges of lips. Restylane® is helpful because it can fill in and reduce the depth of the nasolabial fold and can also fill in depressed, acne scars.
Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal clear gel injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Restylane® works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid and joins forces to create volume.
At Atlanta Plastic & Reconstructive Specialists, patients receive care from board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Bahair Ghazi, Dr. John D. Symbas, and Dr. Kendall Brooks. Each surgeon trained at top institutions such as Emory University and the University of Virginia brings decades of experience in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. The practice operates within an AAAHC-accredited surgical facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology and supported by a compassionate team dedicated to patient safety, comfort, and exceptional results.

Note
The specific risks and the suitability of Restylane® for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All procedures have some degree of risk. How Restylane® Works
Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid-based filler designed to restore volume and smooth lines by attracting and holding water within the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that already exists naturally in the body, which means the filler integrates smoothly into facial tissues. Once injected, Restylane® supports the skin from beneath, softening creases and enhancing contour while still allowing natural movement. Over time, the body gradually breaks down the product, so results fade gently rather than suddenly. This mechanism allows for controlled, subtle enhancement that can be adjusted or refreshed as your needs change.
Areas Restylane® Can Treat
Restylane® can be used in several facial regions to improve definition and soften signs of aging. Common areas include:
- Smile lines and nasolabial folds.
- Marionette lines around the mouth.
- Lips, for added fullness and more defined borders.
- Cheeks or midface, for gentle contour enhancement.
- Certain under-eye hollowing in appropriately selected patients.
Your provider will recommend specific Restylane® formulations based on your anatomy and goals to ensure a balanced, natural result.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
A Restylane® treatment typically starts with a focused consultation to review your goals, medical history, and facial structure. On the day of treatment, the skin is cleansed, and a topical or injected numbing agent may be used to enhance comfort. The filler is then placed with a fine needle or cannula in carefully planned areas. Most appointments take less than an hour, and patients can usually return to normal daily activities shortly afterward. Clear instructions are provided to help minimize swelling and support a smooth recovery.
When You Will See Results and How Long They Last
Restylane® results are usually visible immediately, although mild swelling or redness can temporarily affect the appearance. As any initial swelling settles over several days, the final outcome becomes more refined and natural-looking. Depending on the treatment area, the formulation used, and individual metabolism, results often last between 6 and 12 months. Some areas, such as the lips, may require more frequent maintenance, while deeper folds may retain improvement longer. Periodic touch-up treatments help maintain consistent results over time.
