Dr. John D. Symbas graduated magna cum laude from the School of Medicine at Emory University, where he also finished his undergraduate program. Dr. Symbas completed his residency at Emory University through the School of Medicine in both plastic surgery and in general surgery. He completed an oculoplastic and cosmetic fellowship at Paces Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Symbas is licensed in the state of Georgia and became board-certified in 2012 by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Symbas joined the plastic surgery team at the Atlanta Plastic and Reconstructive Specialists center in October 2015. Prior to that he was an instrumental member of the team at Marietta Plastic Surgery for almost 5 years.
Dr. John Symbas has also written and presented numerous publications on topics such as body contouring and facial plastic surgery, including An Outcome Analysis of Brachioplasty Techniques Following Massive Weight Loss and Facelift Complications and the Risks of Venous Thrombosis: A Single Center’s Experience.
Additionally, Dr. Symbas was a decorated athlete in college at Emory University. He was named to the coveted GTE Academic All-American First Team in soccer and captained the team his senior year.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Symbas. He is so kind and caring. He explains everything and makes you feel so comfortable. I knew at my consultation that I was in good hands. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Symbas. I consulted with 4 different physicians and, while all of them were knowledgeable and fine surgeons, Dr. Symbas was obviously exceptional. He actually entertained me by consulting with me 2 separate times 6 months apart and gave me just as much time the second time as he did the first. He is excellent at validating concerns and is never rushed. You get the sense that you are the only patient that he will see all day with the way that he carefully addresses every concern and gives educated, yet easily understood responses. It’s a gift. He is clearly compassionate and cares a great deal about his patients. Of all the Doctors I have ever seen (among them, 5 different surgeons) Dr. Symbas is by far #1. My initial consultation with Dr. Symbas was wonderful. He put me at ease immediately as he explained the surgical options – complete with pictures, charts, and diagrams. He answered all of my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed during the appointment as I felt that I was his most important patient that day. I was referred to Dr. Symbas by my breast doctor when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I am thankful every day that it was Dr. Symbas, He has been wonderful from day one. Dr. Symbas is a wonderful Doctor and Plastic Surgeon. He is friendly, kind, meticulous, and very knowledgeable about the different procedures and projected outcomes. His bedside (chairside) manner is so positive; he treats you like you are his only patient. I was upset and very nervous about going to a plastic surgeon, but within five minutes of meeting Dr. Symbas I was at ease. He is friendly, confident, compassionate, and enthusiastic. Dr. Symbas is a phenomenal surgeon. His bedside manner gives you the feeling he is part of your family. He takes all the time needed to answer questions while building your confidence in his skilled abilities. I am 6 weeks out from tummy tuck/lipo surgery and the incision scars are healed and barely visible.
