Botox® in Atlanta, GA

Botox®, performed by our team, is a non-invasive facial rejuvenation procedure used to lessen wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead. Botox® injections will not address sagging or drooping skin, but for those people looking to tackle “crow’s feet” or “worry lines,” it could be exactly what you are looking for.

Botox® works by relaxing the muscles that have tensed over the years, reducing wrinkles. The injection relaxes the facial muscles, allowing the skin to return to its natural state. This newly smoothed surface erases years from your face without the need for costly surgery or a lengthy recovery.

Anti-aging treatments at Atlanta Plastic & Reconstructive Specialists are performed under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Bahair Ghazi, Dr. John D. Symbas, and Dr. Kendall Brooks. Drawing on advanced training from institutions such as Emory University and the University of Virginia, they oversee a clinical team skilled in injectables and modern skin-rejuvenation techniques. Our AAAHC-accredited facility provides a safe, comfortable setting where treatments are delivered with precision, emphasizing refreshed, natural-looking results.

Botox® Treatment Details

Unlike a face or brow lift, a Botox® cosmetic treatment is done right in your plastic surgeon’s office. Once a patient schedules their appointment, the doctor will prepare the injection fresh for the incoming client (Botox®’s potency begins to fade after 12 hours of preparation).

During the procedure, the doctor will administer small doses of Botox® Cosmetic via facial injections. Each small dose loosens the muscles in a small area. Once all the muscles in the “trouble” area have been treated, the skin will begin to relax, and wrinkles will fade.

Patients who receive Botox® Cosmetic treatments in Atlanta have been known to see results in as little as a few days, but it generally takes up to two weeks to see the full benefit of your Botox® treatment.

Note

Each person is unique, and determining whether Botox® Cosmetic is right for an individual, as well as the potential risks associated with the treatment, can be done only during a consultation. Regardless of the type of cosmetic procedure (surgical or not), there is always some kind of risk. There have been cases of minor complications that have not affected the procedure’s outcome. Reading this website can be informative, but it is not a substitution for a proper consultation.

How Botox® Works in the Muscles

Botox® is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A that works at the neuromuscular junction, where nerves communicate with muscles. When injected in very small, controlled amounts, it temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical signal that tells muscles to contract. As the muscle relaxes, the overlying skin smooths, and dynamic wrinkles soften. The effect is localized to the treated area and does not travel throughout the body when administered correctly. Over time, nerve endings gradually regenerate, and normal muscle activity slowly returns.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Botox®?

Good candidates for Botox® are typically adults who are bothered by expression lines rather than deep folds caused by excess skin. Ideal candidates often have:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows.
  • Horizontal forehead lines.
  • Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes.
  • A desire for subtle, non-surgical rejuvenation.

They should be in good general health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have realistic expectations about what Botox® can and cannot achieve.

What Botox® Cannot Do

Although Botox® is highly effective for many types of wrinkles, it does have limitations. Botox® will not:

  • Tighten significantly loose or sagging skin.
  • Replace surgical procedures, such as a facelift or brow lift.
  • Correct volume loss in the cheeks, temples, or lips.
  • Treat every type of wrinkle, particularly those caused solely by sun damage.

Understanding these boundaries helps patients choose the right combination of treatments for their needs and avoid disappointment.

Safety, Side Effects, and Recovery

When performed by an experienced medical team, Botox® has a strong safety record. Temporary side effects may include:

  • Mild redness or swelling at the injection sites.
  • Small pinpoint bruises.
  • A feeling of heaviness or tightness in the treated area.
  • Rare, short-term eyelid or brow asymmetry.

Most effects resolve within days, and serious complications are uncommon when injections are placed precisely and dosing is carefully controlled.
